Abstract
There are various criteria based on which society has been divided into different classes. Different ways have been adopted by various social scientists for determining the social status of individuals or groups. These criteria are occupation, wealth, birth, race, religion, education etc. but just one criterion is not sufficient to classify strata. Some of the commonly used socioeconomic status (SES) scales are Kuppuswamy, B.G Prasad and Uday Pareek scales. Since these being commonly used SES the present article intends to pro-vide an update.
