LIFE INSURANCE IN THE CONTEXT OF THE FINANCING OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN UKRAINE

The essence and main tasks (social and economic) of life insurance were considered. The fact, that life insurance is an indispensable component of the system of social protection of the population has been determined. The dynamics of the main indicators of the development of the life insurance market in Ukraine, namely: the number of insurers and, in particular, life insurance companies; volumes of gross insurance premiums and gross insurance payments; levels of gross insurance payments; indicators of the activity of the 10 largest life insurance companies in Ukraine, etc. was analyzed. The fact, that the development of the life insurance market in Ukraine in 2007-2017, was characterized by such negative phenomena as: a significant reduction in the number of insurers, incl. life insurance companies; a slight decrease in the share of life insurance companies in the total number of insurance companies; Insufficient efficiency of investment activities of life insurance companies; a high level of concentration of the life insurance market; an extremely low level of penetration of life insurance, was revealed. Factors adversely affecting the development of the life insurance system in Ukraine are insufficient levels of solvent demand for life insurance services and public confidence in insurance companies; a low level of awareness of the population of Ukraine about the possibility of using life insurance as a social protection tool were summarized. The main directions of overcoming negative factors for the development of the life insurance system in Ukraine and the fulfillment of its social task - the necessary supplement to the state system of social protection of the population - have been proposed.
