Abstract

Automated tool for Bloom's Taxonomy - Blooms Taxo Tool (BTT) is a tool developed to assist the computer science faculty to adopt the Bloom's taxonomy in their teaching activities. The tool is also helpful for the disciple to enhance their metacognition skills. This paper discusses Bloom's Taxo Tool (BTT) its development, implementation and how it can be used to further improve the quality of teaching and learning in educating the graduates of computer science. BTT was first implemented and extensively tested for a study, in which 720 objective questions from three different computer science subjects were utilized. During this study, it was observed that the tool is not only helpful for faculty to design queries at different cognitive levels, but also useful to update the queries to another cognitive level, when similar Bloom's keyword exists in the other level. Our study culminated with the successful development of a suite of tools to assist faculty during the creation of classroom materials and while preparing the examination papers with queries at the appropriate level of Bloom's Taxonomy. Bloom's Taxo Tool is developed using python. The user interface of the tool is designed using PyQT .MYSQL database is used to store data related to level and keywords. Pyuic is used to execute the python program according to the input from layout designed by using the PyQt Designer.
