Abstract
The article discusses the problems that exist in Georgian High Schools in effective reading strategies. A questionnaire survey studied students' awareness of effective reading strategies. 37 teachers and 77 students filled in an online and paper based questionnaires. A conclusion is made that students are not aware of the concepts of the effective reading strategies and that teachers and The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia should pay more attention to the implementation of effective reading strategies in educational institutions.
