Abstract
Marine energy increasingly takes special attention when it comes to renewable energy sources. In this paper, we will look back on the description of technology and their implementation. Each of these technologies uses the energy of the sea as its source to initiate a generator that converts energy into electrical energy. Marine energy is sustainable and there is a huge potential for wave energy and tidal range in the global market. The total theoretical wave energy potential is 32 PWh/y., while heterogeneous and geographically distributed, technological costs for marine energy are still very high, preventing implementation. Although it is a renewable source of energy, ecological impact on marine animals, underwater noise and disruption of natural movement of water is still a challenge.
