Abstract

The objective of the research was to present some principles and concepts on which models Smart and Sustainable Cities are based, as well as the relationship it holds with the theoretical elements of inclusive innovation. The study used an exploratory-descriptive approach, and with the support of the Cities in Motion 2016 Index (IESE Business School, 2016) was performed the regional location and comparison of the main Intelligent and Sustainable Cities in the world; taking priority in exposing the situation in Latin America, particularly Mexico. It concludes on the need to create suitable environments for inclusive innovation from the efficient and intensive use of available technologies, so it is necessary to accelerate learning processes, construction and accumulation of technological capabilities; in the conjunction of Intelligent Cities and inclusive innovation as strategies of urban management that allow the social inclusion from the use and appropriation of the TIC as well as the economic development, social and environmental to improve the quality of life and equality of citizenship.
