Abstract

When the effects of Arab Spring reached out to Syria, many thought that Assad regime would collapse in a short time. However, Assad thanks to a number of internal dynamics, which took root in the country because of the regime and thanks to the influence of foreign allies, and the strategic moves that he made, was able to survive, despite the resistance movements, which started in 2011. Especially, alongside the people who are bond with him at heart, some other groups of the society who are bond with him for their own benefit make Baas regime stronger. Besides, the oppressive structure of Bass regime that has been supported with the strong and widespread domestic intelligence agency has been effective on weakening the resistance against Esad. Moreover, the fact that Russia and Iran always stand beside Esad no matter what happens and that they block the interventions of UN and the fact that they always provide military, financial and logistical aid, have prevented the destruction of the regime. Besides all of these, some strategical maneuvers have also made Esad more powerful.
