MIHRAN TUMAJAN: LINES TO AN ART PORTRAIT

The article presents the life and work of M. Tumajan as one of the five students of Komitas. He was in the foreign land for four decades, and with great love and professionalism collected and recorded the Arm enian national songs and other folklore materials, which have made his unique and large collection "Hayreni erg u ban" [The Armenian national songs]. As a faithful follower of his great teacher, his conducting, musicology and folklore activities, he has made a significant contribution to the preservation, study and dissemination of ancient Armenian musical culture.
