Abstract

Under laboratory condition s, the interaction of copper with sulfur in iron - based melts was investi- gated to assess the possibility of refining liquid steel from impurities of non - ferrous metals. The influence of sulfur concentration on the residual content of copper dissolved in iro n (for steel and iron), as well as on the amount of copper removed (for low - carbon melt). The possibility of direct alloying of steel with Nickel and vanadium when using as slag - forming material of thermal power plant ash is shown. The method of sulfiding has limitations in the field of steelmaking, associated with the need at the final stage of desulphurization of steel with increased consumption of refining slag
