FUNCTIONAL MODELS OF CREATION OF DIMINUTIVES IN THE ENGLISH AND UKRAINIAN LANGUAGES

This paper investigates the specifics of forming diminutive words in the English and Ukrainian languages. The present study analyzes the structural features of diminutive words and clarifies their functional differential characteristics. The data suggest detailed analysis of both similarity and diversity in the semantic and structural aspects, introduces certain homogeneity in the formal means of expression. The major task of this study is to define and describe the functional models of diminutive creation and morphonological transformations that accompany this process in both languages.
