Abstract
The article analyzes the current state of the railway transport in Ukraine and explores the intra-sectoral problems that make dynamic development of rail transport impossible and creates threats to the economic security of the country. Confirmed the impossibility of further postponement of the transformation of the industry on market principles. Mechanisms for further development and reform are proposed.
