STUDY ON USER AWARENESS IN PRIVACY AND SECURITY IN ONLINE SOCIAL NETWORKS

Online Social Networks provides an environment where users with device such as Mobile, tablet, ipad can share their data / information in the form of Text, image, audio, videos and animated videos over online to their Friends, colleague, students and researchers. This sharing supports for popularizing themselves, promote business, collect Research data, disseminate latest news, share their latest trips, put forth their political ideology, critique of movie and other things. This technological gift connects the user to rest of the world and enables them to identify their different roles and needs. At the same time, online social network too has some limitations. The foremost thing to be concentrated in this emerging technology is security and privacy aspects. Lack of security and privacy aspects provides hackers to manipulate the posted information and creates hindrances in information sharing. This paper provides brief information about online social network, with a survey on privacy and security issues along with measures to overcome the threats.
