Abstract

ABSTRACT Aim To analyze the functional outcome of Bicolumnar acetabular fractures with central dislocation of hip by early fixation and congruent joint reduction. Materials and methods Prospective study of three male patients with Bicolumnar acetabalar fractures with central dislocation of hip who were surgically treated were included in our study. Definitive fixation was planned after preoperative assessment with Iliac and Obturator Judet view X-rays 3D CT pelvis. Early acetabular fixation with congruent joint reduction was done through anterior ilioinguinal approach for anterior column and Kocher Langenbach approach for posterior column. Postoperative mobilization, prophylaxis for DVT and heterotopic ossification were given. Postoperative skeletal traction for 3 weeks maintained. Functional outcome was analysed with universally accepted scoring system and found to have excellent results in two patients and good in a patient. Conclusion Early surgical treatment of acetabular fractures with congruent hip joint reduction provides excellent functional outcome.
