Abstract
Historical evolution of the concept «reference and bibliographic work» as well as «reference and bibliographic services» found in scientific works and state industry standards has been analyzed. It is recommended to use the term «reference and bibliographic activities» that includes reference and search aids, bibliographic products as well as usage of reference and bibliographic resources to meet user’s information requests.
