Abstract
The matters of the development of national abstracting resources in some post-Soviet countries are illustrated. The current state of abstract journals and databases in countries such as the Russian Federation, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine is analyzed. The prospects of the development of the abstract task in the context of creating a modern information society are revealed.
