Abstract

The article describes the current state of forage production in the country, reveals the problems of industry, trends of development and features of intensification. The statistical data on changes in sown area in Ukraine and leading producers of feed for farm animals are provided. The directions and substantiation of development of production of feed for animals and birds are presented. It has been established that there is a partial decrease in the sown areas of fodder crops and open-type vegetable plants. Also, based on the analysis of the data on feed manufacturers in Ukraine, there is a tendency towards a decrease in the market of own agricultural products and an increase in imports. At present, the Ukrainian market of fodder production is showing a decline in production, which in turn will entail the economy of the whole agro-industrial complex. At present, in our country, feed producers do not pay much attention to the quality of manufactured products. In general, feed materials of domestic producers include the following components: the grain part is on average more than 70%, which is much higher than the recommendation of EU standards. But because of the lack of the necessary components, the feed is not balanced, not saturated with biologically active substances. Also, there is insufficient technological level of processing, only 20% of products are made in the form of granules and mixed fodder. Due to the low solvency of domestic consumers in the domestic market, only 80% of manufactured feed is sold, and their exports are almost non-existent. The production of feed fodder at the present stage is concentrated on enterprises that are part of large agroholdings and have their own livestock complexes, which provide them with stable sales. The current situation is due to unsatisfactory financial conditions for the industry as a whole, especially for feed mills and machine-building plants, and the lack of economically feasible mechanisms for its improvement. Therefore, improvement of the existing technology of feed production, as well as capital investments, material and labor resources during the period of stabilization of production should be advantageous to concentrate primarily on the reconstruction of existing feed-fed enterprises, the introduction of leading technologies and competitive equipment on them.
