Abstract
Invert emulsion solution has gained a wide application in well-killing operations in oil and gas condensate reservoirs. For the past decade, literatures are aimed at proposing optimal chemical reagents and compositions for the preparations of invert emulsion solution. However, most of the existing simplified research techniques and approaches fail to incorporate the effect of the presence of gas in high permeability intervals within the formations. Thus, it is relevant to have alternatives, though complex algorithms and methods of reagents selection for invert emulsion solution preparation incorporating gas effects in multistage fractured wells. This paper proposes a new algorithm for optimizing the compositions of kill fluids for oil and gas condensate reservoirs. This algorithm incorporates high gas factors in hydraulically fractured reservoirs. This methodology optimizes reagent compositions to prevent gas breakthroughs and absorption into the reservoir, which might lead to a reduction in reservoir contamination, underground well repairs, and, hence, a reduction in well-killing operations. The observations and conclusions made based on the laboratory studies of reagents for the reparation of invert emulsion solutions for well-killing operations in oil and gas condensate reservoirs.
