Abstract

The process of Friction Stir Spot Welding (FSSW) is a solid state amalgamation process. Here for joining the materials of similar or dissimilar, no filler material is required as the heat is developed between the tool and the work piece. An effective testing has been done and investigation is conducted on a milling machine for joining aluminium of grade 6082 and 4100. In this paper, EN31 and EN19 tools materials are used with a profile of taper thread for joining the 4100 & 6082 Aluminium alloy plates by FSSW with varying feed, rotational speed and inclinational angle of the tool. It is evaluated that tensile strength is more for EN31 Taper thread tool of FSS weldment joints of dissimilar metal than EN19 Taper thread tool used.
