Abstract

The structure and features specifying the introduction of a special course into the English-language training aimed at the future doctors in higher medial educational institutions are described in the article. The article presents tasks and exercises that contributed to the formation of the future doctors' preparedness in the field of the English language; their effectiveness is proved; the future areas of work within the study are determined. Scientific researches in the field of the English-language teaching aimed at the future doctors are analyzed; the necessity for the high-quality English-language professional training of students at higher medical educational institutions is proved. The experimental work on the special course implied the complex introduction of the determined pedagogical conditions for the English language training aimed at the future doctors, since they are interconnected and interdependent, in four stages: motivational (gaining knowledge about the future doctor's communicative activity), activity-based (acquisition of abilities and skills in the English communicative activities), communicative training (practical application of the acquired knowledge and skills in the future doctors' communicative behaviour) while teaching the course “Future doctors' English speaking activities” and the academic disciplines such as “English for specific purposes (medical)”, “Ukrainian for specific purposes (medical)”, “Latin”, “Anatomy”, “Histology”, “Pharmacology”, reflexive-evaluative stage (students' understanding of their own behavior, personal meaning of these or those ideas, information analysis, etc.) within the club of students who are keen on the English language. Prior to the beginning of the experimental work, two seminars were held with some teachers of Linguistics (“English (for specific purposes)”, “Ukrainian (for specific purposes)”, “Latin”) and profession oriented disciplines (“Anatomy”, “Histology”, “Pharmacology”), who agreed to take part in the developing stage of the experiment. The purpose and main tasks of the experiment were discussed at the seminars; the feasibility of using the knowledge of English while teaching special academic disciplines was determined; some methodological recommendations on the topic of the research were elaborated; the terminological vocabulary on the themes of the profession oriented disciplines was approved.
