Assamese Travel Literature An Introductory Note

The rise of Assamese Travel literature has started with Gunabhiram Boruah's ˜Saumar Bhraman'. After that ˜Bilatar Sithi' written by Jnanadabhiram Boruah has given a new light to the Assamese Travel literature. It has published in the book form in the year 1939. Later, some well known personalities like “ Hem Boruah, Prafulla Dutta Goswami, Birinci kumar Boruah, Chandra Prasad Saikia, Amalendu Guha has contributed to Assamese Travel literature. But, it must be said that Assamese Travel literature is not very strong as other genres of literature. Recently, so many new and old writer started contributing for Assamese Travel literature in the late 20th century. But a huge part of the literature is about USA only. Presently, it is known that the ratio of published travelogue is very high. In this prepared research work, an attempt is made to study the development of Assamese Travel literature and its manner.
