Abstract
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of the monensin increased in the diet of lambs, in feedlot and slaughtered at 45 kg on performance. Were used 12 lambs in a completely randomized design, with the animals distributed in two treatments with six replicates per treatment. Namely: 1) Control diet and 2) Diet increased with monensin. Data were analyzed by GLM procedure of Statistical Analysis System (SAS) and means compared by t test. The use of monensin increased daily weight gain, but didn't affect consumption. The use of monensin in the diet of confined lambs may be favorable because it can reduce the time of confinement.
