TO THE QUESTION OF LEGISLATIVE CONSOLIDATION OF GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATION IN THE CIVIL CODE OF RUSSIA

This article attempts to study such a new institution of civil law in Russia as a geographical indication. In order to answer the question about the need for this concept, a comparative analysis of the geographical indi- cation and appellation of origin of goods is carried out. In conclusion, the author concludes that, despite a posi- tive legislative plan, the institution of appellation of origin of goods, however, may be supplanted by the institu- tion of geographical indications in the future
