Abstract
We apply a projective Riccati equation method to solve a Benjamin-Bona-Mahony equation. The equation desribes the unidirectional propagation of small-amplitude long waves on the surface of water in a channel. By using the method, we confirm the existence of solitary wave solution of the equation, which is expressed in a more general form.
