A RARE CASE OF ABDOMINAL TUBERCULOSIS PRESENTING AS CYSTIC ABDOMINOPELVIC INGUINOSCROTAL MASS

Tuberculosis has staged a global comeback and forms a dangerous combination with AIDS. The abdomen is one of the commonest site of extrapulmanary involvement. Patients with abdominal tuberculosis have a wide range and spectrum of symptoms and signs the disease is therefore a great mimic. A 45 years old male presenting with swelling in right groin for three years with vague abdominal discomfort for three months. USG revealed 15 X8 cm cystic collection with multiple septations and internal echoes extending from left hypochondrium to the lumbar region and pelvis via the right inguinal region to right scrotal sac. Diagnostic tapping done showed haemorrhagic fluid. Moderate right pleural effusion present. Possiblity of Infective fluid collection cystic lymphangioma considered. CT confirmed the above findings. Excision biopsy revealed tuberculous lesion with necrosis Case presented for its rare entity of abdominal tuberculosis presenting as a cystic lesion insinuating in to the abdominal, pelvic and inguinal region.
