Strategic Communications and Providing of Scientific Support for Library and Information Activities

The role of libraries in the development of information society, as well as their potential for society consolidation in the context of Ukraine's integration into the European community, is explored. The place of strategic communications in providing scientific support of library and information activity is considered.The formation of the system of strategic communications in Ukraine is analyzed. It could enable scientific libraries to find out and determine their place in this system, provided that they improve their capabilities as a center for intellectual processing of information, the quality of library information products and services, user’s comfort and convenience, library efficiency, stability, reliability as information holder, etc. The strategic directions of domestic libraries development, prospects of libraries, in particular, their place in the system of social communications, are determined, proceeding from the main functions of the library institution as a social institution, a subject of social communications.
