SEARCHES FOR FIGURATIVE IMAGES IN AZERBAIJAN'S SOVIET-ERA SCULPTURE

Abstract

During Soviet Azerbaijan, as well as creating an opportunity for the training of personnel to operate in the field of sculpture, which marked the beginning of the tradition of erecting monuments of the country's major cities have been targeted. However, the authors of the first statues erected in Baku was not the staff. Their au- thors were S. Erzya, Y. Keylixis, Y. Tripolskaya and R. Sabsay who invited to Baku for spread the ideas of so- cialism in Azerbaijan. It should be added that achieved successes for figurativeness in the monumental art of plastic not only belong with Fuad Abdurakhmanov, but also belong with the erected monuments in the streets, in the squares after the Second World War. In truth, we told that during 1950–1980 years have been done many works in this direction. For example, there are included: monuments of Uzeir Hajibeyli erected in Baku (1960, author Tokay Mammadov), Xurshidbanu Natavan (1960, author Omer Eldarov), Bahram Gur (1958, authors Albert Mustafayev, Aslan Rustamov, Qorkhmaz Sujaddinov), Mahammad Fuzuli (1962, authors Omer Eldarov, Tokay Mammadov), Mikayil Mushfiq (1970, author Munevver Rzayeva), Nariman Narimanov (1972, author Jalal Qaryagdi), Mashadi Azizbeyov (1977, author Tokay Mammadov), Imadeddin Nesimi (1979, authors Tokay Mammadov and Ibrahim Zeynalov) and others
