This article briefly covers the biography and activities of Avraham Sergeevich Norov, a prominent statesman and public figure of pre-reform Russia. The study of his life path, literary activity allows us to under- stand the life of prominent representatives of the nobles of the first half and the middle of the XIX century. The fate of A. S. Norov is a combination of an interpreter, a scientist, a traveler and a government official. Love to literature A. S. Norov carried through all his life. The war of 1812 developed to the highest level a sense of pat- riotism (in the full and best sense of the word) A. S. Norov, which remained until the last days of his life
