Abstract

Polymer in concrete had been used for eliminating the limitation of Portland cement concrete (normal concrete), such us low failure strain, chemical resistant, damping capacity and etc. Polymer could be acted either as filler or binder. As a binder, together with cement, polymer modified concrete strength of ordinary Portland cement and blended was evaluated by using full factorial design in determining of significant effect. The parameters of experimental evaluation were type of cement, curing method, type of cement and usage of plasticizer. Based on analysis, type of cement and curing method gave significant effect to compressive strength of polymer modified concrete. The ordinary Portland cement will gave higher strength than blended cement when interacted with copolymer of natural latex. Based on data, there was difference about 13%, although the strength of normal concrete of both of cements were about same (the difference about 1.51%). And for curing method, there was difference about 8% - 20% between saturated lime and air curing of polymer modified concrete of ordinary Portland cement and blended cement.
