APPLICATION OF EYE TRACKING METHOD FOR ASSESSING THE QUALITY OF GRAPHICS AND MULTIMEDIA PRODUCTS

Abstract

Metrological provision for obtaining objective data on the nature of visual interaction of the con- sumer with design products based on application of the monitoring methods for eye tracking movements and gaze direction. The purpose of this article is to give an overview of recent trials of eye tracking methods for assessing the quality graphics and multimedia products. Considered in the application of systems eye tracking visual search, marketing and advertising, neuroscience, psychology and human-computer interface. Methods for detecting the position and eye movements are discussed such as electrooculography, scleral search coils, infrared oculography and videooculography. Emphasis is placed on methods for assessing the view based on image interpretation and analysis of the data obtained. Ratings look at facial features and characteristics of the image are two groups of experimental methods. Method of optical response of the eye and tracks is based directly on the photometric effects. Eyetracking future development needs standardization of metrological parameters that are used as a metric eye movement, as well as ways of presenting the data and their interpretation method for designing human-computer interface. The basic terms and definitions are given, recent advances and finally the need for future development are represented in this area.
