Abstract
The article observes word-formation potential and structural and semantic structure of the mental ad- jectives in the English and Russian languages. The purpose of this article is to define the specificity of the word- forming capability and semantics of the words мудрый and wise in both languages. The author concludes they have similar features though some derivatives of the English mental adjective wise belong to the category of dialectisms
