Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to investigate the relationship between personality structures and anger expression styles of water sports. The population of the study consist of (swimming, underwater rugby, water polo, triathlon, sailing) 104 men and 103 women total 207 adult water sport athletes. In this study, Social-Demographic Information Form, Big Five Personality Questionnaire and Trait Anger and Anger Expression Style Scale prepared by the researcher were applied for athletes. It has been realized that personality traits and anger expression styles have significantly related each other. Extroversion has a meaningful relationship with trait anger, anger-in, anger-out. Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism were found to be significantly different from all anger subdimension. Openness has a meaningful relationship with anger management. Agreeableness and Neuroticism have a meaningful relationship with gender. Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism have a meaningful relationship with age. Anger-in, Conscientiousness and Neuroticism have a meaningful relationship with living places. Conscientiousness has a meaningful relationship with education status. Anger-management, Extroversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism have a meaningful relationship with income level. Agreeableness has a meaningful relationship with sports. As a result of the research, it has been found that there is a significant relationship between personality structures and anger expression styles of the sportsmen engaged in water sports and differences were found between the variables of gender, age, living places, education and income.
