Abstract
The aim of this research is to compare from the perspective of railway transportation management and technique between the development project of Jakarta-Bandung Express Train in Indonesia and the experience of development in other countries. This research wants to know the most recent condition and the development potential as well as its impacts on the high-speed train industry in Indonesia. The development is conducted by a consortium and association of national companies of Indonesia and China. Some problems underlying the development of this railway are that the travel using land transport from Jakarta to Bandung and vice versa still take a long time, and traffic jam happens on the route through Puncak Bogor and on Cileunyi Toll. This research uses a qualitative explorative method and descriptive explanation because there is a problem or issue that must be explored. In-depth interviews are done with some informants and source persons from transportation circle by interviewing the development executive of tunnel 11 at KM 124 and KM 125 and in the location of Tegalluar Station, Bandung at KM 155. The result of this Express Train Project research has a significant implication on the medium up to long term cooperation between Indonesia and China. It is expected that in the future Indonesian manpower can do such a train tunnel construction by themselves in other locations
