Abstract

The general and specific characteristics of the umlaut phenomenon in German and Altai languages are examined in this article; the brief description of this phonetic phenomenon in diachrony is given, as well as the practical value of the given comparison for learning German phonetics in mono- and bilingual audience is emphasized.
