Biothérapies prometteuses dans la COVID-19

The progress for understanding the pathophysiology of the infection with SARS-CoV-2 showed that severe forms of COVID-19 with significant cellular damages are due to excessive release of cytokines like IL-6, IL-2, IL-7, IL-10 and TNF alpha. Therefore, the control of the cytokine storm has been suggested as a way of saving this category of patients, and multiple clinical trials using biologics, aiming at neutralizing these cytokines, are underway with promising results for some. Unfortunately, no effective treatment, whether curative or preventive (vaccine) has yet emerged, despite the efforts made by the scientific community around the world since the beginning of this pandemic.
