Abstract

Schools are the most important social organization unit in the nation's education system. A harmonious work environment and healthy relationships are essential to maintaining a high quality of teachers' working life. Workplace issues can lead to decrease in performance, job dissatisfaction, loss of happiness, stress and various Mental health problems. Comfortable, healthy and happy conditions affect the wellbeing of teachers. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine the well-being of teachers in National Secondary School (SMK) and Government Funded Religious Schools (SABK) based on the quality of teachers' working life namely psychological, social, political and economical needs. This study used quantitative research with survey method through questionnaire. The study subjects consisted of 300 teachers in the Pasir Puteh district of Kelantan who were selected based on random sampling technique. The survey instrument used was adapted from the Quality of Teacher's Working Life (Nordin & Thien, 2017). The findings showed that the level of teachers' well-being was high and that there was no difference in the level of teachers' wellbeing in SMK and SABK. It is hoped that this study can be used by school administrators and policy makers at district, state and national levels to measure the quality of teachers' working life in Malaysian schools. If this concept is recognized at the national level, a good quality of teachers' well-being will be achieved and thus have a positive impact on educational institutions and the nation
