Abstract

The challenges of globalization, liberalization, and the growth of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) requires educators to produce students who are self-reliant, dignified, and able to compete locally and globally. Today's generation needs to meet and address new challenges, especially to the demands of being askilled worker. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the suitability of personality trends among Technical and Vocational Education (TVE) postgraduate students in their teaching career, based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Personality Model. The 140 students who are pursuing a masters in technical and vocational education course at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) took part in the test. The findings show that all TVE postgraduate students at UTHM have one of all personality styles based on MBTI Theory. This means that 16 personality styles, based on the MBTI personality model, are owned by potential polytechnic and community colleges educators, where 75 students representing 62.5% of the total respondents have personality styles that are compatible with their teaching career. Additionally, the analysis also shows that Extrovert-Sensing-Thinking-Judging (ESTJ) and Extrovert-Sensing-Feeling-Judging (ESFJ) personality styles represent nearly half of TVE students, while the Introvert-Sensing-Thinking-Judging (ISTJ) and Introvert-Sensing-Feeling-Judging (ISFJ) forms a simple frequency group. This situation directly exhibits how a majority of polytechnic and community college students who are currently pursuing their postgraduate studies at UTHM, have the personality styles of ESTJ or ESFJ
