Abstract

The study aims to identify the determinants of foreign direct investment and measure their impact on foreign direct investment for the period between (1982-2018). However, the study utilized time series data using the standardized tests to estimate regression coefficients through which the nature of the statistical relationships between the independent variables on one side and the dependent variable on the other side can be determined, and thus through the Eviews 9 program package. The study went through three tests' stages, namely the stability test, which worked on the 'unit root test' using the Augmented Dickey-Fuller statistic (ADF), and the Co-integration test, where it indicated that all the variables of the study are complementary indicating the balancing of the equation in the long term, and finally the error correction mechanism test, whereas it was found that foreign direct investment was positively affected by both domestic investment and the official exchange rate, and negatively by both inflation and unemployment
