Abstract

Fuzzy based optimization of leakage detection in petroleum pipelines is proposed to estimate the hydraulic behavior of the commodity being transported as real-time knowledge from the field. This project consists of pressure relays and offers a system for pipeline network detection and localization of petroleum leaks. In order to determine the existence of leaks in the pipe network, Fuzzy analyses the data obtained from pressure relays more precisely. The desired value of pressure at that particular point of pipeline is compared with the actual pressure from pressure switch. The error is given as input to the FLC (Fuzzy Logic Controller) and even if there is a minute variation it will be displayed accordingly. The more frequently the sensors are retained, the more effective it is possible to localize and detect the leakage. The signals from the pressure switches are transmitted via RF module and received at the main base station where the PLC with Fuzzy is maintained. HMI as user friendly makes pressure switches connected to the system easy to track. A performance evaluation protocol for leak detection systems has been developed. This article presents the findings of a pilot study and a principle verification of a novel technique based on fuzzy optimization in leakage detection in the oil distribution system assessment.
