REVIEW OF CHINESE CALLIGRAPHY FONT RECOGNITION METHODS

Calligraphy is an artistic expression in many national languages, where it is an essential part of cultural heritage. Thus, the protection and dissemination of calligraphy art are significant. However, due to the complicated structure and unique style of calligraphy font, it is tough to recognize calligraphy font. Based on the requirement of calligraphy protection, a set of integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) calligraphy font recognition system, which integrates various methods and databases of calligraphy font recognition, should be established. This paper presented a comprehensive review of various existing Chinese calligraphy font recognition methods nowadays. The use of methods at each stage of the entire recognition methods will be reviewed and summarized in this paper.
