BULGARIAN-RUSSIAN METAPHORICAL PARALLELS

The article focuses on the Bulgarian school of political metaphor (Lilyana Tsoneva, Elena Stoyanova and others) and characterizes the peculiar features of the applied methods of study (cognitive research, correlation of metaphors and metaphorical models in various national discourses, linguo-cultural issues studies). The article also highlights the leading papers and the metaphorical models that have appeared to be the center of attention. The authors conclude that the considered papers adequately represent the Bulgarian school of political metaphor. The latter in its turn optimally combines the ideas of various scientific traditions (American, German, British, Russian, French, etc) and research fields (cognitive, semiotic, rhetorical, linguo-cultural, etc)
