Abstract

The article deals with the problem of Ossetian people mental specificity identification by means of linguocognitive analysis of the key metaphorical concepts in the system of social values. The present research has shown that understanding of major cultural meanings, the FREEDOM concept among them, is determined by the speaker's “view of the world”, which in its turn, can be considered as a result of definitely structured person's ideas about the environment, and depends to great extent, on particular nation's cultural traditions. The texts in which the concept is actualized reflect socio-cultural and political conditions of the particular period of time, thus making possible to consider extralinguistic processes as the main factors of the development of the sphere of concepts and to reveal some significant aspects of conceptual map of the world and cultural and political context interaction
