Abstract

The issue of the present in Ukraine is the absence of the Law of Ukraine “About Weapons”. At a time when there are military actions in the country in the east, and “on the hands” of the population tens of thousands of unregistered firearms, this issue should become a priority. In recent years, law enforcement units have reported increasing numbers of violent crimes. Despite the widespread use of weapons in Ukraine, the problem of legal regulation of arms circulation in Ukraine remains almost indeterminate. The article analyzes the experience of the countries of the former Warsaw Treaty (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland) and the post-Soviet Republic of Moldova on the legal issue of regulating the circulation of various types of weapons, in particular firearms. The question of the appearance of weapons and the classification of weapons according to different criteria was studied. The questions of categories of persons who are entitled to possession of firearms, pneumatic and other types of weapons are considered, questions of acquisition, storage, wearing, sale and illicit manufacture of individual weapons are analyzed. The question of liability, which occurs in connection with violation of the law “About weapons” in these countries, is investigated.
