Abstract

The relevance of the article due to the revival in the modern Ukrainian economic science interest in the theory of demand for consumer goods and the associated need for rationalization of the conceptual apparatus of this theory. The article aims to throw more light on the existing conceptual approaches to the interpretation of the concept and classification of demand for consumer goods. In the process of implementation of this objective used a systematic, comprehensive, historical approaches, methods of analysis and synthesis, expert evaluation. Characterized existing conceptual approaches to the interpretation of the demand for consumer goods. As part of the discussion for the one for whom the emphasis is on the fact that the demand for the consumer good is the expression of needs, it is shown that this approach is genetically related to the interpretation of the demand that was characteristic of these representatives of English classical political economy, And how. Smith, T. Malthus, D. Ricardo. The connection Marx's interpretation of the demand with the looks in the past expressed above is listed by English economists. Discussed one of the attempts to deepen this interpretation. It is specified that this attempt does not take into account such circumstances: the demand for consumer goods, on the one hand, reflects the creditworthiness of consumers, on the other hand, represented their needs in natural-material form. Attention is drawn to devoid of this lack of definition, according to which the demand referred to, is an on the market demand for goods and services, limited current and the creditworthiness of consumers. Rejected available in the literature is the observation that the use of this definition of the term «solvency» is not quite correct. Criticized available in the literature indicate stochasticity of demand for consumer goods and the consequent proposal to apply theoretical probability assessment in the process of its modeling. Proposed answer to the question of the relationship between interpretations of the population's demand for consumer benefits as a form of manifestation of the needs and interpretations like this: the demand can be represented in the form of a scale or curve showing the quantity of the product that consumers are willing and able to buy at each specific price from the range for a certain period. Discussed the classification of types of demand for consumer goods.
