Abstract

The article considers and analyzes the evolution and history of the American banking system at different stages of economic formation. It is substantiated that the development of the US banking system, as well as other countries with developed economies, was due to legislative and institutional changes in banking, which were formed in the process of historical development. The main problems at the stage of formation of the American banking system are revealed. Prerequisites for the creation of American banks are described. The number of banks at different stages of formation of the American economy is analyzed. The peculiarities of opening commercial banks in America are noted. Peculiarities of functioning of the American banking system are investigated. Levels of monetary system of the USA are defined. The problems that arise during the functioning of the American banking system are named. The consequences of opening American banks are analyzed. The main features of the consolidation of American banks are described and also the largest banks that participated in the processes of concentration of American banks are listed. The laws adopted in the process of opening and consolidation of American banks and the peculiarities of their application in the American banking system are analyzed. Depository institutions of the US banking system are considered. The place and role of savings and foreign banks in the functioning of the American banking system at different stages of economic formation are analyzed. Peculiarities of institutional legal regulation of the American banking system are considered. The periodization of the formation of American banking regulation is highlighted. The consequences of the adoption of these laws in the American banking system are described. The main directions of research of the US banking system are outlined
