Abstract

Although the poetry aspect of Sait Faik Abasıyanık, one of the most important story writers of the Republican era Turkish literature, is not known as much as his short story writing, the artist has many poems. The subject of this study is the study of the poem "Köprü", which was written by Sait Faik Abasıyanık, known as the Istanbul short story writer, with the narrative style and in free measure. Knowing the connection between the elements that make up the syntax is necessary for the sentence to be understood. Syntax is a science that studies the strings that make up the sentence and it studies the structures and functions of the word groups in the sentence and the relationships between words. In addition, it examines the formation of sentences and their elements, the features of the sentence and the sentence types. In this study, the poem Köprü, in which Sait Faik Abasıyanık, known as the Istanbul short story writer, tells about ordinary people who we can meet anytime and anywhere, based on Istanbul and Galata Bridge, is emphasized. Köprü poem consists of twenty three sentences. The elements of the sentence were examined in terms of word groups and sentence types and evaluated in terms of syntax. Thus, the meaning of poetry is aimed to be strengthened, reinforced and understandable.
