COMPARATIVE STUDY AND COMPARISON OF THE METHOD OF PERFORMING THE QUALIFY EXAM IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING AT SELECTED IRAN AND THE UNITED STATES UNIVERSITIES

Qualify exam (QE) is held in the transition phase from the educational step to the research step. The aim of this exam is to assess the abilities of educational phase. Accordingly, a comparative study on the implementation of QE in the selected US and Iranian universities has been studied in chemical engineering felid. The results showed that a comprehensive test is held in written or oral form or a combination of both. In most universities in Iran, this test is held in writing. It is suggested that a comprehensive oral exam be held to assess the principles of chemical engineering. The results showed that in the selected US universities, the syllabus and sources of the QE are announced to students. However, the sources and topics of this test in Iranian universities are not clear. Also, in US universities, the comprehensive exam is mostly held at the undergraduate level. But, in the selected universities of Iran, more QE are held at the master’s level
