Abstract

Research and design on runoff water through modelling have the potential to create accurate calibration and verification techniques to validate water quality. The potential contamination of rainwater harvesting systems and the need to have sustainable potable water management systems is gaining attention from water researchers, but still there is a paucity of research studies. Not enough attention has been paid to the integrity of rainwater quality and leaching of metals. This study shows how MATLAB software can be used to predict rainwater quality in an interactive and user-friendly way. The dynamic model employed in this study can be used to run and generate results by inputting data collected from harvested water to predict the level of contamination. Software that can be modified for future use when there are no experimental data to predict runoff water quality is a welcome development. The idea behind any water quality modelling is to explain and predict the effect of pollution in water from harvesting systems. In this study a modified model was used to analyse the quality of rainwater harvested from a rooftop
