Abstract
The aim of the study was to elucidate the contributive power of Occupational Risk Control (OcRC) practices on the performance of commercial banks in Kenya. Occupational risks are risks associated with employee activities within an organization. The control of such risks is essential in ensuring good performance given that such risks are highly unpredictable, yet they are inherent in the day to day organizational operations. The specific practices were mandatory leave, process flows, employee supervision, and internal audits. A positivist philosophy was adopted in this study. The study involved a census survey taking into account all the 38 banks that were operating in Kenya at the time of the study. Data were collected using closed-ended questionnaires and analyzed by the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) tool. Both descriptive and inferential analyses were used to draw the conclusions. From the results, there was a statistically significant positive relationship between OcRC practices and the performance of commercial banks in Kenya. The study findings led to the recommendation that both commercial banks and other organizations should continuously evaluate the workability of the various OcRC the various and ensure they are effectively integrated in their operations, with a good inter-departmental coordination, to enhance the organizational safety and performance.
