Coronavirus Disease COVID-19 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Cov-2) in European Countries: Epidemic, Origin, Spread and Confirmed Cases Up to First Week of April, 2020

Abstract

There is a worldwide outbreak of the nCoVid-19 (novel Coronavirus disease 2019), the pathogen called SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome CoV-2) previously 2019-nCoV which has been originated from Wuhan city of China and has now spread to about 6 continents including 181 countries & region on April 2, 2020. Government of these countries is under increased pressure to stop the outbreak spiraling into a global health emergency. As this stage, preparedness, transparency, and sharing of information are crucial to risk assessments and beginning outbreak control activities. The pandemic spread from Asia reached Europe by the third week of January where COVID-19 was first confirmed in France and in a few weeks, its patients started coming from many countries of Europe. In Europe, around 873, 767 confirmed cases of Corona virus disease (COVID-19) and more than 42, 404 deaths have been reported. The outbreak of this epidemic is seen mostly in Italy, Spain and France where Italy has been identified as epicenter. Moreover, Italy and Spain are getting the highest number of recorded deaths. Cases of covid 19 are increasing day by day in Europe. Due to which there is a situation of lockdown in many countries of Europe. The present paper is an attempt to summarize the origin, spread, epidemiology of this dreadful disease in European countries with confirmed positive cases along with deaths and recovery of the patient’s upto first week of April, 2020.
