Common Heritage of Humanity and Permanent Sovereignty of the Democratic Republic of Congo over the Virunga National Park

The Virunga National Park has been classified as a common heritage of humanity since 1979. Although it becomes a world heritage, sovereignty over this park remains totally under the control of the DR Congo. However, DR Congo must manage it rationally because it gets financial, logistical, scientific,. . . support from other states and/or organisations by the fact that this park is registered as a common heritage of humanity.
